Anti-Vandal Offices: Site Space That Locks Up Tight
An anti-vandal office is a site office built from steel rather than lighter materials, with steel-framed windows behind lockable shutters and heavy-duty doors. Everything else — desks, heating, lighting, power — works the same way. The difference is what happens when nobody is there.
What makes it anti-vandal
Three things. The outer skin is steel, so it resists forced entry and casual damage in a way a lighter building cannot. The windows are steel-framed and sit behind shutters that lock from the outside. The doors are heavy gauge with proper locking rather than a domestic-style handle. Shut up at the end of a shift, the building presents no easy way in.
When it is worth it
If the site is unattended overnight, has no fencing or lighting yet, sits in an area where you would not leave a van unlocked, or holds anything worth taking, the steel unit earns its money quickly. One break-in costs more than the difference between a standard office and an anti-vandal one, and that is before the lost day.
If the office lives inside a secure compound that is already gated, lit and alarmed, a standard site office may be all you need. The steel unit is not automatically the right answer — it is the right answer on exposed sites.
Inside, it is still an office
People sometimes expect a steel unit to feel like a box. It does not. Our anti-vandal offices are decorated and fitted with heaters — new heaters in most cases — with lighting throughout and sockets where you need them. Open plan, or divided into a main office and a separate meeting room. Carpet or vinyl. The finish is an ordinary working office; the shell is what is different.
Sizes and layouts
Anti-vandal offices run from small single-desk units up to long buildings that take a whole site team. They link side by side for a wider space and stack two or three high where ground space is tight, with connecting stairs fitted. Our own HIAB fleet lifts and sets each one into position.
What to ask about
Ask what the electrics have been tested to, whether the shutters are complete and working, and what the doors lock with. Refurbished units are repaired and refitted, electrically tested and certified, then repainted before sale, and some go out as they stand — the listing says which.
